Report by D. Scott Stevens

The Land Trust of North Alabama offers more than 70 miles of public trails where you can relax, get some exercise, and connect with nature. There are seven public nature preserves in Madison County, Alabama (located in the southeastern United States). For over 9 years, I have provided trail and land management GIS, mapping, and data management for over 6,200 acres and 70 miles of trails. I have provided kiosk maps for all seven public preserves.

In addition to the public preserves, Land Trust owns or manages over 30 properties in northern Alabama. I have provided basic topographic and site maps for all these properties.

Through the GIS Service Pledge, I was able to continue this support. I was also able to upgrade my ArcGIS license. The upgrade has enabled me to be more productive and efficient.

I have also provided a client location map showing wheelchair ramp builds in 2017 for CASA of Madison County, Alabama. CASA (Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound) is a nonprofit agency located in Huntsville, Alabama, that provides services to individuals age 60 and older and to the homebound of all ages. CASA has been able to use the map to illustrate the amount and density of client support they provide across the county. I also have led wheelchair ramp builds and warehouse wheelchair prefab teams. (No GIS skills necessary for wheelchair construction.)
