Volunteers Assisting South Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition with geocoding and visualization of their data

The South Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition (SCBC)  promotes, protects and supports the art and science of human milk feeding as the superior form of nutrition and nurture for infants and young children. Through community and professional support and organization, SCBC works to ensure that breastfeeding, an important public health issue, will become the societal norm for feeding infants and young children in South Carolina.

SCBC sought the assistance of a GISCorps Volunteer in geocoding their addresses, cleaning their data sets, adding an interactive map, and creating a Dashboard for their website. They also asked that all deliverables be documented, so SCBC can administer and update the data upon completion of the project.

Following the recruitment, Kathy Cappelli and Trish Long, GISCorps volunteers from Maryland and New Jersey, were selected for this project and are in contact with SCBC representatives.
