The mission of the Mountain Rescue Association is to provide a central agency through which the efforts and activities of member units may be coordinated to more effectively promote mountain safety education and provide integrated mountain rescue services. The valuable volunteer professional services from the GISCorps provided us the needed expertise to collect geospatial search and rescue mission data from across the country. This data collection tool will provide a sustainable and perpetual open data source for researchers and search and rescue professionals around the world to participate in relevant research that will inevitably save lives. This could not have been accomplished if it wasn’t for the GISCorps and their dedication to the mission.
