Shannon’s Experience: Volunteering with GISCorps has been a great opportunity for me to offer the skills I’ve developed as a GIS Professional to a nonprofit agency doing hands-on good work in the world. The GISCorps Core Committee ensures that all involved with the project have shared expectations of the project scope, time commitment, and end date. Without their support, it would be much easier for projects to have scope creep or a lack of closure. I’m happy I was able to support the important work of the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association. If you are a GIS professional in any capacity, I would definitely recommend volunteering with GISCorps!
