Olinda’s Experience: I have always believed in giving back to the community, and I feel honoured and privileged to be part of such a huge and amazing organisation that is always looking outside their boundaries and finding ways to give back. GISCorps is always offering essential help to worthwhile causes, people in need and the community. The PAM team was so amazing in every way from being very professional, organised and clear communication. It was such an amazing experience, one that gives you a sense of purpose and motivation to do more and getting to meet and connect with other like minded individuals was an added bonus.
Why she volunteers: I absolutely love this quote: “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” That statement resonates with me. We grow more by uplifting each other, not the other way round. True victory comes from knowing that you have done the best that you can possibly do given everything that you can possibly give. I enjoy volunteering and not forgetting other amazing things that come from dedicating your time such as making new friends, expanding your network, and boosting your social skills. GISCorps is an amazing organisation, the world needs more organisations like that and more people with such big hearts to look beyond self.
