Mackenzie’s Experience: Volunteering with GISCorps has been very rewarding. It is difficult to stand back as our country faces some very challenging moments due to the pandemic and an increase in natural disasters. I am grateful to have the opportunity to provide situational awareness services during hurricane, tornado, and flooding events by volunteering as a Photomapper. In addition, volunteering with environmentally conscientious organizations, such as the Ward Melville Heritage Organization, has been especially fulfilling. I truly valued the chance to introduce the power of GIS and data visualization to the next generation of environmental leaders.
Why Mackenzie Volunteers: I have learned so much from a technical standpoint volunteering with GISCorps, and I look forward to continuing to serve on many projects in the future.
