We are seeking funding from grantmaking foundations and other humanitarian organizations to enable GISCorps to: provide travel assistance to volunteers and administrative support so that Core Committee members can concentrate on developing new partnerships and managing additional projects for our volunteers, and also to defray the cost of enhancements that are being made to our website.

We are working on major web and database development. GISCorps recognizes that our web site is a central and critical mechanism to facilitate our mission through enabling contacts with volunteers and the partner organizations looking for assistance. It provides the means for GIS professionals to register as a volunteer, for organizations to solicit help, and for all of us to communicate about our activities. The original web site was established several years ago and no longer provides the facilities that are needed. The volunteer database, in particular, must be updated and made easy to query to find appropriate volunteers. The new web site will be developed in Joomla environment and we are looking for volunteers who are familiar with this environment to lend us a hand in maintaining and enhancing the new website.

We are also looking for individuals to help us in volunteer recruitment process. This task involves searching the database, short-listing qualified volunteers, contacting them, and finally putting them in direct contact with the partner agency.
