The GISCorps Code of Conduct incorporates in full URISA's GIS Code of Ethics adding specific obligations for Volunteers, Project Sponsors, Donors, and GISCorps Administrators.

URISA's GIS Code of Ethics

Volunteers
In addition to URISA's Code of Ethics and GISCorps' General Policies, GISCorps Volunteers must adhere to the following:

  1. Remain software neutral.
  2. Seek the most appropriate and sustainable technology and solution for the community in need.
  3. Make recommendation without exploitation or regard for personal or agemcy profit.
  4. Refrain from accepting software donations.

Project Sponsors
In addition to URISA's Code of Ethics and GISCorps' General Policies, Project Sponsors must adhere to the following:

  1. Be supportive of the goal and the mission of the GISCorps.
  2. Agree to work closely with the GISCorps Core Committee to streamline operational issues.
  3. If the existing operational framework does not address an issue, GISCorps Core Committee will review and act upon the issue on an as needed basis.

Donors
In addition to URISA's Code of Ethics and GISCorps' General Policies, donors must adhere to the following:

  1. Be supportive of the goal and the mission of the GISCorps.
  2. Make donations with no future expectation for personal or agency profit.
  3. Expect to be recognized on GISCorps' website and in other publications and communications materials.

GISCorps Core Committee and Administrators
In addition to URISA's Code of Ethics and General Policies, GISCorps Core Committee and Administrators must adhere to the following:

  1. Remain software neutral.
  2. Seek the most appropriate and sustainable technology and solution for the community in need.
  3. Make recommendation without exploitation or regard for personal or company profit.
  4. Refrain from accepting software donations .
